We have decided to change our weekly radio show’s name to better reflect what we’re trying to accomplish in the lives of men, women and families struggling with the bondage of addiction. We’ll be changing the name from Recovery Talk to Beyond Sobriety.
Jim started the show in May last year to bring help and hope to people affected by drug and alcohol abuse. It is meant to combine informed commentary on current events involving drug and alcohol abuse and treatment as well as interviews with men and women whose lives have been affected by their own abuse or that of a loved one.
Over the past 6 or 8 months, Jim’s been convicted that the conversation surrounding addiction treatment needs to change.
The words we use are so important and using the word ‘recovery’ in the show’s title and in conversations with others about addiction is simply not an accurate representation of what we’re trying to achieve.
We don’t want men and women to recover the life they had before their addiction; we want their lives to be transformed through new habits, relationships, thought patterns and reactions to life’s struggles.
Changing the show’s name to Beyond Sobriety tells everyone that watches on Facebook or listens on the radio the show is not about going back, or recovering, anything; it is about going forward.
We want listeners to be encouraged to pull their day-to-day focus off simply not using drugs or alcohol and, instead, realize that sobriety is just one part of a truly transformed life.
All past Recovery Talk episodes are available here on our website.
We also released a press release last Tuesday about the change as well. It’s available at: https://marketersmedia.com/freedom-farm-ministries-announces-new-name-for-weekly-radio-show
