Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend
How did a truck do that?
Simple...Workhorse Bertha helped us bring in tens of thousands of dollars every year and those dollars helped pay for utilities, food, transportation, staff and so much more for Freedom Farm and the men that God brought through our doors.
As you can imagine, after 7 years and 240,000 miles, Bertha isn't in the greatest condition any more. She spend A LOT of time at Freedom AutoTec now getting one thing or another fixed. Some months, we put more into fixing her than she brings in now adays...
We need to retire Bertha.
But here's the problem...we can't put the workhorse out to pasture until we have a dependable replacement. The Thrift Store would miss out on thousands of dollars in donated merchandise every month if we didn't have a way to pick up items from donors' homes and businesses.
Ways You Can Help
Saying Hello to a New Friend
This is the type of truck we'd like to replace Workhorse Bertha with.
It's an Isuzu box truck that would serve us for many years to come. It's small enough that anyone with a regular Class C license can drive it, powerful enough to handle the big hills and gravel roads around Boone and big enough to haul a ton of stuff.
Here are a few of the specifics in case you know a friend or business that has something similar they might be interested in donating or selling.
Isuzu NPR Diesel Truck
16' box with sliding back door
Lift gate would be a bonus
Class 4 (14,001-16,000 lbs)
5.2 liter Turbo Diesel engine 175 hp
We have found one for sale at just under $20,000. But we thought someone might know an auto wholesaler that could get us a better deal on a quality truck.
